You will turn messy, high‑volume operational data into actionable predictions and clear insights that directly impact business decisions.
Core work: build prototypes to estimate out‑of‑stock odds n days ahead and model stock level distributions per partner/item
Stack: Python, pandas, scikit‑learn, SQL, notebooks, data visualization
Ways of working: fast iterations, rigorous validation, crisp communication of findings to non‑data partners
What success looks like: measurable lift on prediction accuracy and decision quality in sourcing/pricing workflows

🔎 In a nutshell, what are we looking for?
We are looking for a smart and talented end of studies intern to join our amazing Engine team.
Position
Accurate predictions of reliability of stock information are critical for Stockly to make informed decisions about the offers we can make, in order to be the most reliable partner for our e-commerce network. As a pioneer on the Data Science topic at Stockly (and potentially other ML topics in the future), your work would have a direct and tangible impact on the success of the company.
To tackle our cross team challenges, you are a candidate willing to actively participate to the company development. In our growing team, everyone is key including you as you will be working on the frontier of several domains.
Everytime you will face recurring tasks or pain points, you will be in charge of finding and implementing solution to tackle this and help the company and team move to next the stage.
Missions
As a Data Science intern at Stockly, you will work on concrete forecasting and data analysis challenges to improve the quality of our offers and guide our suppliers.
Stock reliability prediction
You will develop models to estimate the probability that an item will be out of stock in the next n days, based on the partner and item. This work involves:
📊 Data analysis – Explore and understand operational data to identify relevant variables for reliability prediction.
🤖 Modeling – Build and validate predictive model prototypes with appropriate metrics.
📈 Visualization – Create clear visualizations and probability distributions of stock levels to facilitate decision-making.
These predictions are critical for Stockly to make informed decisions about which offers to make and to be the most reliable partner possible for its demander network.
Demand prediction and sales analysis
You will also work on predicting sales from stock information, making it possible to identify the most sought-after items and give our suppliers visibility on where to focus their efforts.
On a daily basis, you will handle large and complex datasets, using Python, pandas, scikit-learn, SQL, and visualization tools. You will work in fast iterations with rigorous validation and will need to clearly communicate your findings to non-technical teams.
Challenges
By joining a fast-growing startup in an international market, you will face three main challenges:
Data complexity: e-commerce data is rich but messy, with multiple interconnected sources and systems.
Volume: Stockly manages tens of millions of items and millions of daily updates, requiring scalable solutions.
Business impact: your models will have a direct and measurable impact on sourcing and pricing decisions and our partners' satisfaction.
